yes.r-12 systems are old technology,and the refrigerant is about 5x the cost(more in some places)which is something youll be doing ever so often.basically youll save a lot of money (now and later)and it will work just the same if not better.
note:they quit making r-12 refrigerant in 1996 so when they run out youll be making the switch anyway.

700 is crazy to spend on putting a/c back on your car. there really is no diference in the systems other then the fittings and the oil. do not waste your money

shit too bad you didn't need this stuff last fall when i was cleaning the garage. I had two a/c systems that I gave away complete with condensor, compressor, etc.
I'd recommend just picking up the stuff from here or craigslist, I couldn't fathom spending the 700 bucks for a/c, especially from 5.0resto. They've always been overpriced and low quality IMO.
