every few months.. the check oil light will turn on and when you check the oil level, it reads below normal and have to put an quart in. what could be the problem? is it a serious issue? also using 20w-50.

Oustide of a obvious oil leak...ya, it's burning it. Why are you using 20w50???

Does it smoke at all from the exhaust, it could be sucking it through the PCV.

because it has high mileage on it and its thicker so it doesnt burn as much.

nope.. well its kinda hard to see down there with dumps.

have a friend follow you for a short drive and look for blue smoke when you give it wide open throttle.
