I can swing by and help. just pull the upper intake and we'll fish the pieces out. its just paper towels, wont hurt shit. I saw a red shop rag go down an intake once and it turned out fine.

If it makes you feel any better, I swapped in some roller rockers into my old 5.0. Got excited, forget to torque'em down (they were just finger tight) and threw everything together. It didn't turn out to pretty. I'll see if I can find some pics later.

i left a rag inside a manifold, i came back at night and slapped the carb back on my cleveland, started the motor and then it died. i could'nt figure out why til i took off the carb. one half of the rag was hanging out of the exhuast port and the other still inside the mannifold! i bent a push rod, cause the rag was preventing th valve from completely closing the vavle! lol!

if you dont want to pull the heads (which you should) you need to at least take the lower off to make sure you can see into the heads that theres no damage or pieces that could cause damage

I would be very careful with the car for the next few startups (if it has cats on it still). Whatever paper that didn't burn up is now sitting in front of the cat element...and could possibly ignite. It wouldn't be a pretty sight to have a fire in there...

im not so sure that merely pulling the intake is gonna cure the issue the way household paper towels breakup theres a good possibility your gonna end up with paper fibers throughout
im sitting here grinning but feeling your pain i just changed the headgaskets on my 94 gt and almost did the same thing with actual shop towels...advice don't work on your car when you tired or frusterated
this is advice for myself as well lol when i finished the car would start and actually took me about five minutes to remember the coil was disconected lol
