So what does everyone think 11:5 to 1 to much compression for pump gas?

Static compression is not what determines whether or not you can use pump fuel. It is determined my dynamic compression (cranking compression) which has to do with the timing of valve events. With the correct camshaft 11.5:1 on pump gas is doable.

yes, its a bit to much

Combustion chamber design has a role in detonatin as well. 4 valve heads tend to handle more compression ratio.

Camshaft choice plays a huge part...Also tuning and possibly polished chambers if you havent built the engine yet.

Its doable with the right cam and cylinder head work and a good tune.

go to a reputable motor builder see what they tell you

Yes, sharp egdes and burrs in the combustion chamber will cause detonation problems with any setup.

and its even worse when tring to cheat with high comp ratio...Ive done many 12 to 1 setups on pump carbed mostly and some injected also...
