$300 includes a new heater core, set of heater hoses and clamps. All parts, but clamps, are factory Ford and come with a dated receipt for proof.

86's are $350.

PM me if interested.

I'd need the car for about 4 1/2 hours in Rohnert Park.

If you have A/C systems that work I can keep your systems in tact.

I will not install aftermarket (non Ford) heater cores. This is for your sake. When I first started these installs I did one on my own car and one for someone else. Both failed in less than 18 months. Have installed 10+ (factory Ford) heater cores in the last 2 years and have not had any fail as of yet.

does that include install?
cause 250 seems much when i can buy a new heater core for $35 @ autozone..hoses and clamps from ford is pricy .so i roughly spend under $100 for parts and 150 labor correct?i know install is a bit*h.that brings my questions.

Have you ever priced it to get it done at a shop? 250 really is not bad at all. It takes a lot of time to pull the console and dash and get it back together right. If I needed it done I would pay 250 in a minute so i would not have to do it. I think from reading his post it includes everything all parts and labor.

Autozone/Kragen/PepBoys heater cores do not hold up well AT ALL from my experience. If you compare the parts with the factory Ford part I think you'd agree for the money and time the job takes, do it right the first time, rather than save $20.

I took the time to replace one a few years ago and used a Kragen heater core. It lasted 2 years. I have a few tricks that make the job a bit easier but no matter what the center console and dash have to move and thats not an easy task. This is by far the best deal I have seen.

thats a deal for sure,if your in the fresno area let me know i will have you do my 86....

The 86 and older stangs are alot easier than the 87-93. I did one on my 85 stang back in the days. You don't have to take the dash out. You just remove the glove box and heater box to get to the heater core.

This guy does top-quality work and is worth every penny...not to mention he's saving you $300 or more.

I'd recommend him to anybody who needs a heater core.

That method only works if its a non A/C car. Trust me, I had an 86 GT with air and it was just as hard as an 87-93.

$250 is a screamin deal. I would have paid $500 halfway through taking the dash apart..
Worst job on a Mustang in my opinion.

For any car equipped w/ AC, you only want to do this supremely extensive job once. Therefore it is imperative, actually mandatory, that you install an OEM or other high quality core. Believe me, if you love your 5.0, you don't want to do it wrong here. It is quite an expensive job, however the $250 offer is quite a steal.

If you are worried about price, check this out: Late Model Restoration Supply out of Hewitt, TX claims to offer a 79-93 "heavy duty" core that is better than the OEM, and it doesn't require the heater input hose flow restrictor that reduces the destructive high pressure to the core when you are heavy on the throttle. I talked to a tech and that is what he said. Cost is 29.95. GOTO www.50resto.com or call @

Much repsect to Don for wanting to do this for folks. I just did mine today. While I was able to handle it. I vowed to never do it again...lol. It was some hard shit once the dash is down. 250.00 is way more than fair. I would recommend spending that in a heartbeat. My install took me about 4 hrs. But it was a grueling 4 hrs. And it was cold as hell...

If you have working A/C I have to remove/unbolt the entire box as usual but the box only comes out about 6-8 inches BECAUSE IT'S STILL HOOKED UP TO THE A/C EQUIP IN THE ENGINE BAY. At that point I have to get a 2x4 and set it between the box and under the windshield to have it as far down as possible. from there you unbolt the two bolts on the front heater core cover and take a hand dremel and cut it along the inner most part. With the bolts removed it lifts up and you can pull the heater core through. when you have it removed I take the dremel with a sanding tool and make sure to smooth UP any edges. then bolt the 4 or so inches of the cover back down and add a stip of electical tape and reapply everything.

It actually makes it a PITA because you have to unbolt the flaps from the drier and bend them forward in the engne bay to access the second set of bolts that are at the firewall.

Edit: so you don't cut the housing, just a triangle off of the cover that surrounds the top of the heater core.

Yeah, ummmm, that would be the housing. You call it "top cover" EVERYONE else calls it the housing. LMAO poor dudes got the rides hacked up. Ive read every manual Ford ever produced and it never included a dremmel.
