See the tube thing in the middle of the "H". I think its the egr line.

How critial is it to have that hooked up? Can it be bypassed?

It's downstream air from the smog pump to the rear cats. It's used to add oxygen to burn off what the front cats don't. If your smog pump is bypassed already, it's not a big deal, but I would make sure that you can undo what you remove come smog time.

No my smog pump is still hooked up. What if the h-pipe I have has that part shaved off? What would I do with the smog pump line? does it need to be hooked up?

is that like on an off-road h or one with hi-flow cats?

if there is no where to hook up that line then just remove the smog tube.

I would keep it though so you can hook it back up to the stock h-pipe come smog time, that's something they would look for since our cars use air pumps.

it's just air, so if you can't hook it to the h-pipe just let it vent, you wont be able to hear it and it wont hurt anything.

Off road H/X pipes have them to. Just plug it and take the smog pump off. Most people use high temp hose with a lug nut wedged in it, then a hose clamp around the nut. I just cut mine off and welded the hole shut. Just make sure it is either hooked up or plugged because if you just leave it you will have an exhaust leak.

he's saying his h-pipe doesn't have the tube to connect that too, and is asking what to do with the long smog tube.

The photo is of a stock h-pipe,...used the photo as reference to the smog tube only.

I just bought an x-pipe and the hole for the smog tube is plugged/welded so I wanted to know what options I had for the smog line that is supposed to go to the x-pipe.

Blind,...there wont be any 'pressure' or 'back pressure' issues if I let the smog line just vent? It doesn't work with the mufflers in any? If wont fuck with the computers head or anything?

I need a welder for christmas [Big Grin]

no you could just leave it unhooked, it's just fresh air being pumped from the air pump, so long as you leave the solenoids and the air pump in place there will be no effect on drivability, it's just used to help the cats burn up unburned gas easier by giving it fresh air. Since you dont have cats it wont do anything anyways.
