I'm speaking of the "current" Mach 1 Engine that Ford sells as a crate engine. Any legal issues involved with dropping this motor into my 98 GT?

Has anyone here done anything like this?

If what I heard is true, you can put any engine you want in your car as long as it is the same year or newer and has all the smog crap that was standard on that year.

So if you have a 98GT and put an 03 Mach 1 power plant in it, then you'll need to necessary 03 Mach 1 thing to go with it.

That's how I understand it though, but I'm not originally from here and I don't know anything about the smog crap. [Smile]

You are correct. It must meet the emission standards of the engine, and it must be same year or newer.

Yeah i was told that you can put a motor thats the same year or newer in your car. MPS autosalvage has a or had a Mach 1 engine complete...might wanna check it out there... [burnout]

after you install it i believe you have to take it to a smog ref, and have him say its good. After all is said and done, you smog the car as the same car you took the motor out of.

So, instead of smogging it as a 98gt it gets smogged as a mach 1
