I have a 96 cobra. It currently has a Bassani everything from the manifold back,IMRC deletes only because a dishonest person removed them and didn't tell me before I bought it and a 91 octane SCT tune to fix issues with deletes and turn off Mil indicator . With that stuff, I might pull a low 270. what's needed for the big three?

Usually an S-trim will get it.
Or on the cheap side, a nitrous kit.

Buy an LS1

You need a blower. Get an S-Trim, Procharger, or a Novi. You should be puttin' down 4's at the wheels
I think your only other options (besides NOS) would be to start getting into the heads or cams and that is going to get expensive.

Cams should help ya out - but MAN they're expensive, esp for Cobras. I got 303 RWHP out of my 98 GT all without a blower or nitrous so Im sure you can do it to, and far easier.
Best of luck!

All bolt-ons (minus cams, since some consider them bolt-ons) on a 96 cobra should get you right at 300rwhp. 290 definitely.

if your looking for power i liked the 4.10s in the rear but to get to 300hp a TB, CAI, and a bigger MAF, along with pulleys and maybe port the intake manifold and then do a tune up and get it dyno tuned especially if u have long tubes u should see right around 300 since they do come stock with 305hp
i hit a 13.7 on an x pipe and cai in my 96 cobra with street tires oh and 3.73s

port your intake manifold and get some longtubes if u dont have them yet and get a nice tune.

Thanks everybody. i'm planning on running 4:30's so a blower is kinda out of the question. from a legal perspective and an easy way to lose my smog liscense, long tubes aren't gonna work. I guess my options left are porting the intake manifolds/heads a good tune with underdrive pullies.
