Well..I'm going with an S-trim and a 306 for a new setup....

I was told that different mufflers make better power and yada yada yada

so I'm trying to see what you guys are running and what you might think works the best...

going to run 12-14lbs. of boost

Victor Jr Headed motor....

Custom Cam from 93Pony....242/244 @ .050; 584/584...112LCa....23 degrees sep..

BBK 1 3/4" Primaries..I cut the BBK flanges off and had my friend weld a TRUE Flowmaster 3" Flanges on...

Custom 3" X-pipe done by Muffler Tech...

BRAND NEW 3" Flowmaster Delta Flows...the black ones into Dumps...

Should I change the muffler setup? the X-pipe setup?

Or it'll make great power the way it sits and changing mufflers won't do shit?

BTW...5Hp to me is 5HP...even if I have to change mufflers...

I remember reading an MM&FF article on a 331 blown notch that muffler comparison the Spintechs and Bassani mufflers squeezed higher #'s just slightly though.

Your x-pipe sounds fine and anything with 12-14 pounds is gonna make some good numbers if everything is up to spec.

You will get some criticism from using Flows on that 3" setup since you already stepped up from the 2.5" diameter you might as well use equal quality mufflers (Bassani, Borla, Spintech) to finish the exhaust setup properly IMO.

i dont think 3" flows would be worth swapping unless you want a different sound

the sound i can deal with....wide open sounds great..I'm more worried about the powered aspects...

as others have posted..I'm worried about the power aspects of a chambered muffler vs. a straight through....like a Borla XR-1
