My car starts up differently almost every time I start it. Sometimes it turns over within a milisecond, sometimes it takes 2 seconds. Usually it takes longer for it to start up from a warm-ish start than from a dead cold start (as in, drive the car, walk into a store, come out 10 minutes later, and the car doesn't start as well as it did when I first started it that day).

What could be causing this? It's kind of embarassing sometimes...

bad ground on either battery to engine block, or engine block to frame.

weak battery

dying alternator causing weak battery

battery terminals need replacing

heatsoak on starter from longtubes getting it hot

just some things to check
