I know this has been asked before.... But when you "Burp" the coolant system, is it just draining all the coolant/water, or do you have to do more.... I need help, my car is still overheating. Any input would be greatlly appreciated- TTT

when the thermostat opens fill more coolant into the rad.

i just learned this last night fro Twogunkid if i did it correctly, here it is:
1. take off radiator cap 2. fill radiator with coolant 3. start the car and let it idle with the cap OFF 4. after the car is at operating temperature, you'll notice the coolant start to bubble 5. The coolant level will then drop 6. refill coolant to the top 7. put radiator cap on

When this is done, you are purging the air from the system, not the water. When you install a thermostat, make sure there is either a small check valve (ball type) or drill a SMALL hole in the face of the thermostat. This aids in the "burping" of the cooling system. Other things to check: make sure you are running a GOOD water pump (no leaks!), the belt is tight and within the tensioner's operating range, the clutch fan is functioning properly, and there are NO leaks in the entire system. A leaking cooling system, that is one that is losing pressure, will overheat much more quickly. Lastly, run a thermostat! It does no good to run without one.

it makes it a lot easier to jack up the front right so the rad cap is the highest point in the system.
and it helps to tug and squeeze on the upper and lower rad hoses to force the air out.
