My car has just arrived to a new problem, but whats new.Anyways, now it's doing a tremendous amount of shaking. At first it was just the tranny stick that would shake, so I changed the u-joints on the driveshaft, while I was down there I even removed the flywheel and had it balanced and resurfaced. Nothing has helped so far, and the weird thing is that the steering wheel shakes the most, and it even shakes when I just rev up the car in neutral. I'm stuck like chuck, any input would be appreciated.

It could be the harmonic balancer.

I was thnking it could be that, and even took the pulley off to be reminded I need the crank pulley to remove it. But, the question now is, if it is the harmonic balancer how would I know if it's damaged or done with?

You will see that the two pieces ( inner hub and outer ring)don't line up very well anymore, and some of the rubber will be sticking out. Take a pic and post it???

I had a problem very similar to this but it was the counterbalance weight on the flywheel. The screws had come loose causing erratic shaking even when reving in neutral.

Are you positive that it's not a slight miss?

Yeah, thats why I checked the flywheel first. I thought the flywheel got unbalanced or something had gone wrong in that dept. But I got it resurfaced and torqued it down correctly. As for the missfire, isn't it odd that the steering wheel shakes really bad as well, while in neutral?

If there was a miss at idle, it could shake the wheel yes.

Same shit happend to my car. Shook HORRABLY. The balencer ended up in two pieces and ground a hole in the timeing chain cover.

I've had the same exact problem. I've changed:
The flywheel, balancer, rebalanced the driveshaft, new clutch, motor mounts, and a new tune up. Still the shake. [Mad]

Don't tell me that man, ur scaring me. Nah, but I just ordered the fms balancer from Summit, and wait and see what happens. I'll keep an update.

You can check the balance visually if it is really bad. Have someone rev the car whil looking at the balancer, you should see it come out of round causing the vibration. It is gennerally the 2 pieces begining to seperate
