My car has a loss in power and a sputtering problem. It idles bad and it stinks. I can also smell what I believe is unburned fuel. So after some trouble shooting, I have found out that my car runs lean and that my fuel pressure is low, and also my air temp sensor was bad. So I have gotten it down to the mass air meter being bad. My mass air meter is a Pro-M 75mm calibrated for 24 lb injectors. If I spray some carb cleaner the fuel pressure gets up to 40 where it should be. If I unplug the mass air meter, nothing happens.

So here is my question, if there were no problems with my car, when I unplug the mass air meter I should be able to notice a difference in idle and the way the car runs right? Instead of unplugging it and nothing happening right?

My car runs for about 5 seconds with the MAF unplugged, then it dies.

My car stays running like nothing happened.

Also, does anyone know if Pro-M went out of business? That is what I heard and dont know if its true. I ordered a new C&L 73mm mas air meter today. I hope this fixes my problem!

I am also curious as to what symptoms people have had with a bad mass air meter?

Per Ford Racing Tech, Pro M is very much alive, just under a different name. The phone # they gave me was 517-327-3900.
