I'm getting 4:10's in the next few days. And before I spend $250+ for a Diablo hand held. Do, I have to worry about speedo or tach being thrown off? Is there anything else I have to worry about when I get them?

All you have to do is replace the speedo-gear to the appropriate one for 4'10's. I did that when I got my 373's. But your speedo and stuff will be way off with 410's

If you have an 02 you have to get one of the following: Speedcal, chip, or a tuner. There is no speedo gear to replace.

I do believe that, with the new edge stangs, they went to an electronic pickup.

Where can I get the speedcal? And for how much?
I might have just enough for a Diablo hand held. Found one for $250.

get the tuner... you will be much happier with it... it can do so much more than just calibrate the speedo.

The speedo is gonna be off. If you don't have the $ for the Diablo now, wait...and get your gears done when you do. You'll be happier in the long run! And if you buy a used one, make sure the stock tune is erased from it...they "marry" themselves to a VIN number; if the stock tune is present, you can't use it!

How can I make sure? And if it isn't, can I still erase it?

Plug it in to the OBD-II port, it will tell you if it's good to go or not. If it's not, have the owner load his stock tune back into his car...and all is well!

Save your money and Buy a brand new Diablosport Predator. I did the same thing and it works great.
BTW your tach will not be affected, only the speedo. The only thing else you need to worry about is keep tread on your tires

How far off would my speedo be with 4:10s? 10? More?
I'm not worried about tread. I'm more worried about my speedo.
I got really lucky having my 91 mph speeding ticket dismissed back in Sept.

Well it all depends on you current gear ratio. It is just simple math. I'm not sure what stock gears you have, but they should be 3.27 for a stock 02GT.
3.27 to 4.10 - would be 4.10/3.27=1.25, so your speedo would read 125% of how fast you are really traveling. What ever you speedo reads, multiply it by .75. It would not be a set MPH per say, but a percentage, for example:
Speedo reads-------your actual speed
100 75
80 60
60 45
40 30
20 15
This is also considering that you are running a 240/45/17 rear tire. The cool thing about the Predator is that you can make adjustments for tires and gears.
Here is a cool calculator that you can play with, in case you need more help
Good Luck, Glen

Thanks a lot Glen!
Actually, I'm running 255 NT555's.
Love them when they are dry, but when wet...

well heres something else to consider: is your motor stock? do you plan on doing anything to the motor? ever? and how much hp are you going to gain on a stock motor with a tuner like this?
plus, I want to know, cause im in your shoes right now
Posted by 02GeeTee (Member # 5905) on

I'm just expecting to get the most out of I can from my stock motor. Then after these two, is 150 shot, and exhaust.
Posted by 02GeeTee (Member # 5905) on
:
Or it might be shift kit, converter, and exhaust.
Still not sure yet. I want exhaust for sure though.

You'll be happy! 4.10s are great with mild bolt on mods. If you get crazy with power, then you will start running out of rpm. Plus the car becomes not very streetable at that point. IMO it is the best bang for your buck when mildly modding your car.
