from your personal experience do most shops let you slide with catted midpipes? i know anything less than the stock number of cats is technicallly illegal, but could someone get away with just two cats. reason i'm asking is i currently have a upr o/r x-pipe, but i;m quickly getting tired of having to yell at my passengers on the freeway. plus a buddy of mine has a vrs catted x he's willing to trade.

High flow cats are legal unless the smog tech is a bitch.

Yeah, I had the bassani x with 2 high flow cats welded in and passed. Like the others said, just don't find a dirt bag tech.

You might be able to get it by a tech that doesnt know mustangs or doesnt look up how many cats it should have. The bottomline is, having less than the stock number of cats is ILLEGAL, why is the tech being an ass, bitch, etc when he/she trying to do their job properly?

Not true, you can have less than the stock number of cats as long as it's ODBC1. But it's only legal if there is a CARB number, just like everything else. Call the manufacturer and get the CARB number.

Talked to Bassani a couple days ago and they say their catted xpipes are not smog legal. Also BBK no longer has carb #'s on their catted xpipes either. So technically you should not pass smog with either of these but I currently have a catted BBK xpipe and passed smog in the Town. Bout to go off-road soon and pick up a used stock h when smog time comes around. They are trying to kill off the foxes in CA!
