after the car is warmed up the tranny gets really rough ( the cars a 1989 lx coupe, 5.0 ,just bolt-ons) its almost impossible to get it into first gear when stopped, i have to mash it in while still moving or its rediculously hard, same with second sometimes, reverse always grinds. would this be a synchro problem? wheres a good shop to rebuild this thing in the modesto/turlock/oakdale area?, thanks for any input

Could be your clutch going out too. That happened to me and it was my clutch. [patriot]

check the clutch cable, it may be getting melted and causing it to stretch.

if the routing of it is wrong and its near one of the header tubes it'll really make it stretch

I believe Alterspeed is in your area. Give them a call and see if they can take care of you. If they can't help you give us a call at the shop and I am sure we can take care of you. We can usually turn around a tranny rebuild pretty quick.

Mike, could you give me a quote please. 5th gear is extremely noise when compared to other gears and when i shift from 2nd to 3rd at the track it grinds. the grinding doesn't happen on the street or during normal cruising speed just at the track at high rpms.
Could that be a synchro?
It's a tremec 3550.
thanks again.

thanks for the info guys, ill check the clutch cable, the clutch( king cobra) only has 3k on it, it hasnt slipped on me at all. i hate how far down the clutch engages, whats involved in a adjustable intsall? Apex, out of curiosity what would it cost for A). rebuild with a little heavier duty parts or B) new t-5?
