i'm considering getting a tuner soon, something along the lines of an sct2 or predator. anyways, my question is what do most good tuners in or around the bay area use? also is there anything wrong with buying a used tuner given i know the guy and its fairly knew? i know when buying a new tuner like the sct from a dealer they ask you for a computer code, does this mean a second tuner won't work as well as a brand new one. help!!!

I have Diablosport products but honestly feel that SCT has a better hold on the market.

SCT seems to be a more racer friendly company in many different aspects.

You could buy a used handheld but as long as you don't use a "custom tune" designed for the prvious car all the other functions should work properly.

Where do you learn how to use these?

If it's used, and has not had the stock program loaded back into it, it will be VIN locked & you won't be able to use it. If it isn't, then you're good to go. There is no real disadvantage with a used handheld tuner. There is a difference in the Xcal2 and Predator. The Xcal2 is blank, and doesn't have a pre-loaded tune, where as the Diablo does. We prefer the SCT here, but there's nothing wrong with the Predator. If you need any help with either, our # is in my sig.
