I am going to go fix my g/fs sisters Jetta the water pump is bad. I've tried looking at pictures to see what i am getting into but i can't see crap. It looks like i have to take the belt off, then some kind of cover and then i can access the water pump. Has anyone done this on a Jetta? i have no idea what year. Do you know if i need MM or standard sockets? I guess it leaks so bad it can't make the 5 miles to my house I think after today i will really love my V8 that doesn't sit in sideways. haha

Better hope you dont have to take off the valve covers to access the WP, that could be a little time consuming. Im not too familiar with VW's.

Go into pepboys or Vatozone and look at the Chilton's/Haynes. They are usually open unless the place sucks and they shrink wrap them.
I just look at it and take notes when I'm working on a friend's car to gather all the sockets I need in advance.

I took one look at it and knew i couldn't do it. I would have to remove the timing belt, the AC, the power steering pump and maybe the smog pump just to get access to the bolts for the water pump. Plus i would have had to have it on the rack to do most of that work. I'll never own a German car. [ July 15, 2005, 08:22 PM: Message edited by: Cobra5.0JEEP ]
