okay here the deal so far on thhis fresh motor i have in my car i have had two oil pump in it casue i thought i had bought the wrong one in the begining. the two pumps i have used are melling HV yes high volume but at idle i have about 45LBS. of oil pressure and at W.O.T.i have 75 LBS.that seems to me to be a lot for a motor that has a H.V pump not high pressure. i never had a real gauge on this motor before i rebuilt it so not sure what it was before but from what ive been told that much is too much pressure? it will just wash out the bearings too much? what does everyone elses car run at with stock pump that and i have to change the oil pan gasket should i go back to stock pump? is that going to be enough? or any pump recomendations and f.y.i. i did use a autometer mechanical gauge so it should be fairly accurate. thanx ahead of time for ur guys help!

I've never heard of a stock 5.0 ever breaking because of an oil pump...I think Ford did a pretty good job in that area...
What modifications and other things did you change on your short/long block?...

the block is basically stock the basic machine work, line hone, decked, bored w/torque plates and thats about it. its a mild 320hp-335 hp motor

Well, just for comparison, I have a 98 with a high volume pump and when I start my car fresh (oil is thicker) im running anywhere between 90-100 PSI ~1500rpm, once I warm up i idle (800rpm) @ ~25psi and when Im gunning it, i stay pegged around 75psi.

i figure since fords dont have the greatest oiling system i'll just stick with the hv pump
