i looked in the mustang book under trouble shooting for intake bakfire. it says a bad TAC motor/valve. just wondering what that is a where it is on the car. thanks for your help. [dance]

Are you sure that's not IAC?.....The IAC is on the side of the throttle body on a 5.0....

Hopefully thats what you meant.... [patriot]

yes it is not the IAC, i know where that is. the book says the TAC, i think it has something to do with the thermactor something or other. thanks for your help.

there are a couple valves on the lines coming out of the smog pump. they are not electronic though unless it is a 96+ i think

yeah, i have a 88 306. just trying to find this shitty problem i have had for about 2 months now. the car backfires though the intake and runs like crap. it idles fine, but when the throttle is pushed down about more than 25% the car hesitates, and bogs down and up and so on. i came down to just brining it to the ford dealership. if anyone has anymore answers, please, thanks! [worship]

TAC is themal air cleaner, thats the systme that pulls warm air in from the exhaust manifold when the car is cold. your problem sounds like a posiable TPS defect.
