there are a couple valves on the lines coming out of the smog pump. they are not electronic though unless it is a 96+ i think

yeah, i have a 88 306. just trying to find this shitty problem i have had for about 2 months now. the car backfires though the intake and runs like crap. it idles fine, but when the throttle is pushed down about more than 25% the car hesitates, and bogs down and up and so on. i came down to just brining it to the ford dealership. if anyone has anymore answers, please, thanks! TAC is themal air cleaner, thats the systme that pulls warm air in from the exhaust manifold when the car is cold. your problem sounds like a posiable TPS defect.
