What is involved when converting my 89 lx's a/c to the updated whatchamacallit? Are there any links?

If you can stay with R12, it's cooler(literally)....R12 is expensive, but if you wanna be cheap just take your A/C off!....

I have a R12 hook up about 6 hours south of me...FREE. I have a leaky heater core and thought that I would loose all my R12 in replacing it...I figured if I'ma loose it all then maybe I should do the conversion...is there a way to replace the heater core without releasing all my coldjuice? If so I'd rather keep my current a/c like you suggested.
