A friend of mine just bought an 8.8 with 3.73's that needed a new bearing installed in it. While taking it apart I found 4 of those metal tabs inside. Never seen this before, does anyone have any ideas?? Should I just go ahead and do the bearing, put it in the car and see how works?
Thanks! [ July 05, 2005, 11:56: Message edited by: SilverLX351 ]

looks like the tabs that are "supposed" to be on the cluthces.that would be the only thing that resembles any part that should be in there.

They are the tabs off the clutches, I rebuilt the T-lok and put in a new pinion bearing, now the rear end works perfect.

That's what happens when folks slap a T-lok back together without soaking the clutch packs in friction modifier first. After 3-4 good pulls, the clutches lockup, causing the tabs to snap off.

So it had been rebuilt you think? I did soak the clutches for an hour before I installed them, so hopefully that doesnt happen again
