i have a friend who has been losing coolant from a spot in a heater hose that looks like it goes to the heater core. in between two pieces of hose there is a plastic insert with what looks like a valve with a cap on it that says 'prestone anti-freeze' on it. the leak is coming from that piece, and i was wondering just what the hell that piece is. and if i can find it at a local parts place. any and all help is appreciated!

sounds like someone installed one of "backflush" kits. Get rid of it and buy a new heater hose
