Ok well I am going to be building a superchargered 354 C.I motor for an early 60's mustang and was wondering if a stock 302 out of a 80's mustang will be able to hand 500-600HP? I pulled some numbers on desktop dyno if what I am going to run with the block. But would like to know if it would handle the horsepower before I buy the block. Thanks in advance Billy

OK now whats would be the advanteges of going with that than stroking a 302 block? I am going to be making alot of hp and want somthing reliable to drive to the track and around town on the weekends.

a bigger block will handle more hp. plus a new 351 shortblock is the same price as a 302. i dont see any reason not to go with a 351 or 351 stroker

also the stock 302 block starts to be very vulnerable to splitting once you go over the 500hp mark. Just go with an R block or Dart block.

Yea I can see how a biger block can handle more HP. But where can I get a 351 block at a good prive? All I want is the block no crank or pistons. Thanks again Billy

i'm sure someone on this site has an extra. roller blocks are a little harder to find, but since you're smog exempt and can run a good sized cam anyway, it shouldn't matter
