Thinking about going with an intercooler with my s-trim. As it sits now I'm only running 9psi (10 with the power pipe.) I'm looking to pick up a little more HP. Am I wasting my time?
My current set up is: Vortech sq-2 AFM power pipe acufab 75mm T/b acufab upper intake plenum 90mm lightning MAF 42 lbs injectors SCT chip (waiting for tune) Cobra 255lph intank double fuel pump Bassani O/r X pipe with Bassani Cat back Thanks guys, Tim [ June 06, 2005, 04:04 PM: Message edited by: 03 GT Guy ]

Water injection as in water to water or as in a snow performance type?

I think he means the later.
If you do decide to go w/ an I/C you'll probably be able to raise the boost a little more as the I/C may "eat-up" some of the boost and still be able to match that w/ a bit more timing and still be able to run pump gas and have it very streetable at the same time.

Let me know if I'm understanding this wrong but it sounds like I would have to increase the boost to get back the HP that the intercooler would take away??? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose? Sorry for the dumb questions.

there was a writeup in a 5.0 mag IIRC about using an intercooler, and how it's used to lower the air temp. and despite the fact that it lowers the boost a little bit, you can then up the boost and more effectively make power since we all know colder air=denser air and denser air=more oxygen etc..so i think if you installed the intercooler, and upped the boost to where it previously was and tuned it you would make a bit more power at the same psi

It will in essence allow you to run more boost, fuel, and timing while still maintaining the level of safety needed to stay away from detonation.
You DON"T have to run more boost but if you have the hardware why not since you spent the $$...kinda like the KB cobra thread in the general section.

You could always run the cry 02 setup my buddie is running it on his supercharged camaro and it helps alot since their is not much room for an intercooler.

I would run the intercooler, crank up the boost by 1-2 pounds, and get a dyno tune to dial it all in.
You should see a pretty good increase in power.

i think EVERY force-induction user should have an intercooler. remember....heat is every engine's worst enemy
