I wondering if it would be a decent mod to stick some underdrive pullies on my 87 Notch? Is the factory crank pully harmonicly balanced? If so, does that mean the underdrive crank pully can eventually lead to throwing rod bearing out etc.? I just want to know what I'm buying before I start to run into problems.
Thanks
Jayson

I really don't think a pulley would cause that kind of problem, considering it's one of the most popular mods ever. easy and usually cheap, you get a few horses out of it. all you have to worry about is if you use an alternator pulley and have a bunch of stereo stuff in your car, your alt. not putting out enough power to charge the battery, and sometimes if you put on a water pump pulley you can have cooling problems. I put a water pump and a crank pulley on my 5.0 Tbird and when I had the heater/ac, radio, headlights and brake lights on my alternator wouldnt charge enough. but I replaced it with a rebuilt one from autozone and it has been fine since, and I never had a problem with cooling.

so go ahead and put em on, just make sure everything else is up to par

it attaches to the harmonic balancer so unless its a complete piece of shit pulley, you wont have any problems

IMO, U/D pullies are a GREAT up-grade ( if you have the set ) Cheap, easy to install, noticible power gains!!!!!
