i wanted to get some advice on if it would be worthed to build a 302 block. i currently have a 5.0 with bolt ons, but it's not enough. so i came up on a 302 block and wanted to build the bottom end, probually an 8 to 1 compression. crank,rods,pistons the whole deal. what kind of numbers would i get out of a build like that. plan on throwing a charger on that after the build. thanks for the help

with the cheap prices eagle and other companys are selling their 331-347 complete kits for a 302 based motor it just doesnt seem worth doing a "302".You can pick up the eagle setup with crank,rods,pistons,rings,bearings etc.. for like $750.00.leaving machine work and gaskets.Thats a really killer deal.

My opinion is this if your gonna build something and start from scratch might as well go as big as you can [Whoo Whooooo!]

no it is not if your going to build an 8.0:1 motor then I expect your going FI, in that case it is almost the same price to do a 347 as a 302.

the stock internals will hold as much as the stock block so i would just use the stock crank and rods then get low compression pistons

Rebuild it with a 331 kit with a good set of forged pistons. 8:1 seems kinda low unless you plan on running a ton of boost. I would go 8.5:1 - 9:1.

How much boost are you planning on running?
