1. Engine

Mostly about taking out a motor and bolting the new one onto the tranny

Get yourself a Chilton or Hayes repair manual specific to Mustangs of that age. That'd be my vote.

Yep get a really good repair manual. You will also need an engine hoist. I would make sure that you have a really good set of wrenches, sockets, extensions, a breaker bar, ramps, and a bunch of other tools.

It's not that hard. You need to just start unbolting everything connected to the engine, pull it out, and then bolt everything back up the same way.

Make sure you label EVERYTHING you disconnect and I would highly advice taking picutres during the disassembly process.

Having a friend to help you guide the motor out and in is a big plus.

Does anyone here have any experience or know anybody with experience in putting a 5.0 engine into none 5.0 mustangs? If so, How much would you charge to do that?

I suggest trying to do it yourself. You won't learn anything if you have someone else or a shop do it, plus you'll save yourself some money. It looks like a lot of work but it's all
nuts and bolts. If you don't know much about heavy duty work it will be a pain your first time.

and about the repair manuals, would i get one for the year of my car or the year of the engine i want to put in, or both ?

I would buy a manual for your car. A good manual will give you step by step instructions on how to remove and re-install your motor.

I would suggest buying a manual, reading all of the steps on pulling and replacing the motor, and then posting any questions you have about the steps.

It's very hard to list every single thing you need to do in one post.

Replacing the motor yourself will be a bit of work but when you are done you will learn a lot about your car.
