The stock block can typically hold 475rwhp with no issue. Some people get away with 500+ for years and others only a few short miles.

I wouldn't waste your money using better internals if you are sticking with a stock block. The block with break before the crank/rods/pistons let go. However, if you are staying naturally aspirated and want a stroker with high compression then by all means go for it.

Either a DART, A4, or R302...all will handle more power than you'll ever make. Go with whichever will be cheaper for your engine builder to build.
PS. You may want to turn off your capslock when posting. It makes it look like you're yelling and some people are irritated by it.

Why not a single 62-1 turbo.
Stock cam, gt 40 heads, intake of your choice, 70mm tb, 1.7 rr's. 450 rwhp and pump gas.
Have the turbo sound good power and not break the piggy bank.

I have to disagree a little on the internals subject here. I belive the stock blocks would have to hold up better to a non flexing crankshaft and and good balance using SFI ballancer and good flywheel. The harmonics and out of ballance is going to help destroy a block sooner if they are bad. there is only so much a stock block will take Jeff is correct but, The more HP you have the better the dampner and internals are going to have to hold up and not distort. JMO

Do you really think it's worth the risk of damaging quality internals in a stock block? At 550rwhp the block is going to eventually break regarless of what's inside.

obviously yes LOL. At the time I couldn't aford the race block so I built my supercharged 331 anyhow. I know it is a chance of breaking the block I did use a stud girdle and good parts to give it every chance I can. I have Broken FE blocks also. I guess each person has to determan this himself. I have friends who use NOS on stroker small blocks and haven't brokem them yet, using good parts. If my block breaks at the next drags which it can then I will have to deal with it then. I have over 5000 miles on it now and over 7 months so we will see. We just recieved a 347 Dart block I delt with Keith Craft on for a friend of mine. he had the money and yes we went with the Dart block. Money is Key LOL. BTW I don't know my HP but I am in the broken block range

Personally, I think it's all about the machine work and balance. If done correctly and all the tricks of the trade are applied, it will last. Mine has been together for over a year now. 5500 miles, over 80 passes at the strip. Still going...and definitely in the "danger zone". I used *somewhat* stock parts (forged pistons, stock rods, Callies crank) and my machinist is definitely tops in his game.

absolutly that kind of ties into what I was saying in giving it every chance to live, I had my 331 line honed decked and honed with tourqe plates. Even thought the stroker kit came as a kit I checked and had all the clearences set as far as pin fit and bearings plus the extra balance. Hopefully we will both luck out for awhile
