Yesterday from a dead start I got my brother off the line. Then by the time i hit 3rd gear we were side by side and he was passing me slowly. I stopped there out of anger.

My brothers car: Stock automatic 2000 GT
My car: 1992 LX Hatch 5.0 5spd
mods: *Ram air w/k&n
*Underdrive pullies
*75mm mas air
*24lb injectors
*70mm TB/spacer
*GT40 intake w/ 3/8 phenolic spacer
with lower ported
*1 5/8 equal length headers
*2 1/2 off road h-pipe
*2 1/2 flowmaster cat-back
*3:55 gears

My car has a slight vibe that I suspect to be either the harmonic balancer or internal. Also, I am due for a tune up. But either way my car is slow! Weak! And so on!

Sad. [Frown]

Why don't you put a 65mm TB/spacer and your stock 19lb injectors back in. Your combo has no need for 24's...and the 75 TB is way too big.

Agree!

75mm throttle body and injectors are hurting you. For now try lowering the fuel pressure to 36psi vacuum off and race him again.

Sorry about the 75mm tb, I meant 70mm tb not that it makes a big difference! I had put that stuff on thinking soon I would buy and install AFR 165 heads and a cam. But.....it hasnt happened yet!

No offense but there is a reason why Ford switched to modular engines they perform a lot better stock for stock. Get a cam and race him again.

You really think that's the reason for the switch?
Do some research. [Roll Eyes]

that race sounds about right actually

Well here is my plan as far as what I am going to buy:

-AFR 165 Heads
-RR's
-Cam (dont know which one yet)
-New Timing Chain
-New Harmonic balancer
-Aluminum Flywheel

Then I will go from there.

I agree, i had about the same results against my friend in his 00, find a cheap set of iron heads and a good cam to match. Your brother should be complaining then.

I agree with what was mentioned before about injectors TB and mass air. Put the stock stuff back on for now and save the stuff for later whaen you get your heads. then re run him.

Thanks guys! I am going to save a lil bit of money and get the above mentioned items. Once I get a chance I will swap back out the injectors, mass air and tb. Having just short of 200,000 miles didnt help me much either, at least i dont think. My car is tired and needs to be freshened up.

i dont think i would put heads and cam on a 200,000 mile block. Just my 2 cents tho.

I wouldn't waste your time swapping the stock MAF/injectors back on. As long as Pro-M calibrated the meter properly the 24# injectors/MAF will not hurt performance in any way.

The 70m TB is hurting though.

hmmm so no matter the combo as long as the injectors are calibrated to the Maf it won 't affect the combo?

You could run 50# injectors with a Pro-M calibrated for 50's on a stock 5.0 motor and your A/F should remain the same as with the stock MAF (if Pro-M calibrated it properly which is getting rare these days).

All that Pro-M does is ratio the airflow reading of the meter to the injector size. If you have a Pro-M calibrated for 38's then the meter will tell the computer that the airflow is actually 1/2 of what it really is. 19/38 = 1/2. The computer then commands half the pulsewidth of the injectors and since your injectors are twice as big as stock you get the same exact amount of fuel.

Problems with running Pro-M/C&L meters without computer tuning is that since they ratio the airflow reported to the computer, and since the computer uses airflow to determine load, any table within the computer that is load based will be completely wrong(such as part throttle timing on a foxbody). Luckily on foxbody's WOT spark is based only on RPM and not on load(like the 94+ cars). [Eek!]

What is an ACT Sensor? Or where on the car is it?

Air Charge Temperature, should be screwed into the #5 runner in the lower intake.

so what amount of air flow will the computer max out at? as far as adding fuel?

As long as the MAF is not reaching 5v a foxbody ECU can read 700+ lb/min. [Eek!]

um, they swapped over so that they could save money on R&D, production costs, and what not...
youd be suprised at how many parts are swappable between various modular fords...

I ran that basic combo (stock heads/cam with 24#'s, Pro-M 75mm bullet and 70mm TB) and hit 254rwhp with my 94...Although I did tune the A/F ratio myself with a Pro-M Optimizer...I'd figure a stock '00 auto's are good for about 14.4-14.6 @ around 98-100, 92GREENLX's car should be in the 13.7-13.9 100-102 bracket...

What is your base timming 92GREENLX?....

hey if you wana shut your broher up just rub in his face that you have put about 5-7 at the most including the car and he spent like 20 or more it worked every time. dony get down on your self just think of the price difference think of how
fast all our fox's would be if we all droped 20k in to them so your better off anyway.....

Stock for stock, Modulars run harder.

The exception to that rule are the 96-98 SOHC cars.

It's only with mods that the 5.0's wake up.

[Whoo Whooooo!]

It is hard to see the lines on my harmonic balancer. There is a line at the 14 degree mark though. I need to take my car to a shop and have it tuned. Meaning timing, and fuel pressure. Should I get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I am getting ready to install a new fuel filter, plug wires(frpp), cap/rotor(brass) and I am going to buy a new act sensor and plugs. What plugs should I get?
