yes I converted mine, took 3 months of off/on working on it at a location an hour from where I live.

first rule, use a donor car, or dont bother.

http://members.sounddomain.com/rustystang - my photo journal of my swap.

harnesses you'll need:
headlight harness (alternator plug on wrong side)
EEC harness, O2 sensor harness, FI harness
Fuel pump relay needs to be swapped
transmission crossmember is different
rear brake line for 8.8" rearend is different
spindles, rotors, calipers up front different
brake booster, master cylinder
radiator

have fun, all in all I got a nice notchback with a ton of bolt-on's out of it and invested about $1000 total.

If you're mechanically and electrically inclined, it's not a bad deal, the only problem is that when everything is apart, its hard to resist the urge to go crazy and put in a bunch of bad ass aftermarket stuff as you go along. Smog is an issue, and of course, and as already said, a complete donor car is the only way to go. In my experience, most people actually like to drive more than wrench, so it's better just to buy a runner than to build from a 4 banger car. I know, I started with an SVO, and now the only thing which has never come out of the car is the headliner, and $30k has gone into the pile!
