2000 Ford Focus SE

Air intake built by friend. Alas, no more fuel head filter. Where it went... I really don't know.

My car has been sputtering. Slow Exceleration (though much better than when I first got it, but much worse then where it was at a few weeks ago.)

Possible alternative issues?

Also, I need spark plus wires. Got 6's instead of the usual I think it was 4's my car started out with.

No fuel head filter? The bottom line Focus's have an assload of vacuum leaks. There aren't any lines going into the air inlet tube, so you're safe there. There is a breather line that goes into the air box that goes to the PCV system. Assuming you have a DOHC Zetec 2.0 I'd check the crankcase breather hose, its the hose on the top left of the valve cover, just above cylinder 4. Trace that line and check all the rubber elbows. If anything is soft or cracked, replace the whole hose. By the way....Is your'e MAF still installed?

Crudders! I just looked up quite a few things, and Joestang, your questions opened my eyes up to ALOT of issues and kinks I need to work out.

I'm taking my car down to my friend's garage today or tomorrow. Thanks for your advice, Joestang!!! I'LL be checking everything out this time first, before I let my friend near.

This is what I get for letting an import mechanic mess with my domestic. Eh, he didn't do too bad, just a few glitches. Makes things more interesting for me!

So much to do!

Alas, better me off doing it than typing about it!
