I'm looking to have some machine work done and the shop's up here in my kneck of the woods are questionable @ best. I also need to know of any outfit's in the Sac area that do do Cryogenic treating - nitride treating. I'm going to be building my engine as soon as I can find a suitable core with which to start. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

bailey borthers in napa is an awesome nachine shop, they do all the race motor machine for my builder, they are top notch guys that have been at it for a long time
they are expensive, very slow, and are very bussy, the last two might have something to do with each other, there is a 6 month wait right now
but they are one of the best machine shops around

Dave's Engine and Machine, Newark CA for more race oriented stuffm they are not cheap, but the best. TECH machine shop in Livermore does a great job at a reasonable price too.

Are they that bad? I build my own motors, I've had them balance cranks for me, that's about it.

Whats up grupe56. My name is Lance and I own California Street Machine in Suisun City, CA.
(707)429-1888. We are a complete machine shop, full automotive repair, TIG welding/fabrication, and have a sister shop next door with 1200hp/200mph DynoJet chassis dyno named Advanced Dyno Technologies (707)425-DYNO. We build all types of engines; stock, performance, marine, sport compact, antique, restoration and racing. We have a Racing Engine Program that is dominating various levels of competition in many classes. We are a PSCA contingency sponsor. I build racing engines for Theo from Wizard Racing(530)662-0990, Chris Alston Jr from Chris Alston's Chassisworks(800)722-2269, and I built the 2nd fastest mustang engine of NorCal Kevin Locke's 90LX 8.93@154. Please feel free to call me or my refrences with any questions. I also have some choice rebuildable cores. Thanks, Lance

JohnB, I know who you are and I been hearing you talk. The funny thing is that I have never done anything for you or to you. Your opinion is just an opinion, and as far as the $1's that your counting, you got some change coming. Lance

JohnB, here again I dont think you know me very well, if at all. I personally do all of the Racing Engine work myself. We are leaving to LasVegas Thur24 for PSCA Winternationals. I will be tuning the engines that have built. Lance

Lance, I know you as well. And yes, you have done work for me before.
Unfortunately, I'm not "slinging mud" or anything of the sort. It's nothing new. Again, I will be polite. If you would like me to stop by the shop and personally talk to you in regards to what I've seen/hear/personally had to fix work that's left your shop, you drop me a PM and we'll talk.

JohnB, I am very interested to hear what you have to say. I welcome feedback of all types, good, bad or indiferent. I look foreward to see and talk to you. Lance

Update: Lance and I spoke yesterday in regards to work I had heard/seen come from his shop. Low and behold, it was the OWNERS fault on all instances.
I appologize for the comments made here on the board that were obviously premature since I did not speak directly to him.
Lance, best of luck this weekend in Vegas-
