After installiong a vortech s-trim on my 95 GT 5.0 HO, everything was fitting pretty well. After a couple of weeks of driving, the belt rubs against itself. The belt is around the tensioner (sp?) and between the water and smog pump, and it is a tight fit, so it just rubs against itself. I am not sure if it is a bad tensioner (sp?) or if I am just an idiot and i did sumthin wrong??? If anyone has had any problems like this or knows what it could be, your input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Marc,

Are you running the stock pulley and belt that came in the kit?

Hmmm if your rubbing there I would guess either your tensioner was bad or your belt length was incorrect. Can you fit a shorter belt on there?

We are running the stock pulley, but a different belt. The belt that came with the kit would not go on at all. We found one from Napa that fit perfect (25-061037). However, it strecthes, so now it rubs between the tensioner and the water pump pulleys.

Well sometimes you really have to fight to get the one that comes in the kit on. Sometimes un-bolting or untightening one of the accessories works to get a tight belt on. If it looks like it's completely impossible is there a length that is in-between the stock length and the one you bought?

Hey mt, thanks for the quick replies. We are going to try this weekend, and if we cannot get it on for the life of us, I will pm you with some more questions. Thanks again!

My best guess is that belt you have is still too big. On a stock setup with the 94/95 cobra/gt the tensioner belt is too big (one that comes with the kit). Definitely use a smaller belt because you DON'T want that belt to fail while your driving....

Ray's selling the business. If a buyer steps up the doors will open again.
