Hey guys I've been debating whether or not to put on my slip long tube headers with 3" collector or should I weld on some flanges? I've heard people say both work, any experience to sway my decision? thanks

I'd opt for V-band clamps/flanges rather than standard 3 bolt flanges. They are more pricey but seal better and can be re-used as many times as you want.

cool, you have any recommendations for a shop in South Bay to weld some on for me and that has them in stock? thanks

I'd just buy some from Summit or Jegs. Than take them to Grey's mufflers (san jose) or Joe's mufflers (santa clara)I've used both shops in the past and they both have aftermarket parts experience.

Hmmm, actually now that I think about it, my headers are ceramic coated already, can you weld flanges on these headers at all? I thought you couldn't even if you attempted to grind off the ceramic coating?

You can. The welds will most likely not be show quality but you can do it. With the V-band flanges you can weld the flanges on from the inside of the collectors so it won't even be visible. The surface just needs to be cleaned up well. The flange is slipped over the collector and the lip is welded from the inside.
