Just made an observation at the track today but for all those people that say flows don't flow well or sound good w/ an x-pipe....i have to beg to differ.

I saw Mario Mach 103 hit the 12 sec mark w/ his pretty mild set-up w flows....

Also his buddy Sean in his 03 Cobra went 11.23 @ 125 i believe w/ flows and an x-pipe along w/ his other mods...

An i must say both cars sounded very nice....not too raspy like how i had expected.....

It may be due to the series they have but they seem to work well.

There was an article in MM&FF a while back that did a muffler dyno shootout. Flowmaster actually ranked near the top. There isn't anything wrong with the muffler aside from the fact that everyone and there mother uses their mufflers on V8's. The only reason people downtalk Flowmaster is because EVERYONE has run them at one time or another.

Most everything sounds like poo when you're behind someone attempting to catch up. [Wink]

I had Flows on my 01 GT and I liked them. The only reason why I switched was because EVERYONE had them. But I must admit I LOVE MY SPINTECHS! [Big Grin]

I love Flows they are badass. I won't change them because everyone has them thats stupid.

My dad's Cobra is running an o/r xpipe with flows dumped and it sounds mean as hell.

So you hear flows often at the strip then? Never hear them on the Road Courses. [Confused] [Razz]

Maybe I should have been more complete with my answer. I didn't change them just because everyone had them. I changed the flows because I wanted a little different sound than EVERYONE ELSE had. [Wink]

No, what truly sounds like poo is a SLP exhaust. Period. If I wanted a set of crackling mufflers, I'd go throw a set of cherry bombs on and save a boatload of $$$!

Oh, c'mon...I'm sure there's plenty of cars running Flow's in those parking lot races that you Auto-X guys hold. [Razz]

Speaking of slp i had the loudmouth on my ls-1 it sounded amazing had compliments from everyone, flows sounded like trash on others i heard,i never heard slp on a mustang anyone have im curious to know what ya think?

SLP exhaust on mustangs sounds like garbage. I have heard a few 99+ GT guys run them (My sorry friends [Roll Eyes] ) They sound good on Camaros from what I have heard at the track. I guess all mufflers aren't the same on every car

wasnt the SLP loudmouth exhaust first made for the camaros?

and IMO, i think Borla sounds A LOT better on a camaro than a mustang.

i have an off road H-pipe and flows....sound great! i would like to try a bassani catback though.

yeah slp was first made for ls-1 camaros and they made a kit to fit lt-1s and now they are made for stangs they sound great on camaros i also thought they would sound good on stangs too, none the less i gained over 20hp from the loudmouth i have the exact gain around here somewhere but over 20 for under 400 bux was good

Just put Flows on my 04 Cobra. Dude at the shop said they're called "hush power". To me, they are anything but "hush". I think they sound pretty killer and have had many compliments on the sound. They added 13 rwhp as soon as they put them on. [patriot]

I don't Auto-x. Auto-x is for guys too scared to get some real speed and do it on a real track. I open track. BIG difference. We don't play in parking lots with cones. I think the SLP doesn't sound good either. I'm happy with my Spintech race mufflers. [Big Grin]

2-chamber 40 series Flows w/ off-road hipe [Whoo Whooooo!] Sounds great IMO, I might switch to Bassani or 1-chamber flows later on down the line though.

I think your on to something. O/R H-pipe with 1-chamber flows-dumped should be the ticket. [Eek!]

OUTSIDE of the car the flowmaster 2-chamber sounds GREAT.

INSIDE the car the drone drives me insane and requires extra strength tylenol for 5+ minute drives.

They way a car sounds is personal preference...What ever sounds good to you is what you should buy...

The downfall about the Flowmasters is that they rust and look like shit after 2 years...Stainless steel like Borla, Bassani and others will look better longer...Stainless steel also heats up faster and acts as a better catylists....

Just my .02

BTW~ I hit 254rwhp with stock heads and cam on a 94 GT with off road H and 3 chamber Flows... [Wink] [Big Grin]

There are other mufflers that will free up more hp than flows. That's why I will be switching mine. But they do work. My 2 chambers have let me go 9.40 @ 145.1, hopefully faster next year!

what kind of exhuast are you running? i can hardly hear my flows inside my GT and i have dumps. It sounds tight though when i get on it.

Had Flows on almost every car I have ever owned and loved them. I changed to a full Bassani setup on my '85 and was dissapointed with the sound, especially at idle. But, it's nice to have the Bassani baffles to slide in if I want to quiet things up a bit.

I had 2 chamber flows with dumps on my first 5.0 which was an 88 coupe. That sh#t was loud as hell outside of the car. It would set off car alarms and some more sh$t.

I also had 2 chamber flows with an off road X on my 86 vert and it was loud as hell inside the car as well as outside.

Now I have a 2 1/2 inch MAC cat back exhaust system on my 1992 LX and I think it gives a real good tone. Even at idle it has a nice V8 tone to it. I plan on adding an off road h this weekend.
