remove the two screws on top of your maf, pull it out slow, watch out for the o-ring(dont lose it)use brake cleaner(not carb) and spray the two little prongs, then put it back on,dont forget the o-ring.

Do I need to just go to kregan for that torx bit thats funky?

It is called a tamper proof torx, I know that MAC, Snap ON and Matco make them. But others may now. Or just use vise grips to just break them loose and get them the rest of the way by hand. Be careful not to f everything up though.

You can also use CRC QD (quick dry) a lil less aggressive. I usually don't take it apart... just spray the wires... it does dry really quick.

I have never taken the electronics off. I just spray some electrical parts cleaner into the MAF and then blow some air through the MAF with a air compressor just to make sure all the liquid is gone. Plug back in and go!
