What's the best way to convert the A/C on my '92 stang from R12 to R134?

I have personally seen MANY people just evac the sytem and put on the new fittings and new R134, conditioner, etc without changing the components. Been 2 1/2 years on one stang I sold that is local and it is still perfect.

So did you use one of the kits that you buy from Autozone?

I just installed the two connectors and added the new fluids. I had a line blow out so I had to replace it. That was how I depleted the system

yeh on my 85 one of the lines was all jacked up when i got the car, so i got another line and other AC stuff from i believe a 92 stang in exchange for installing some ac eliminator kit. all i ended up using was one of his lines and one of those kits, actually got it from target for like 5 bucks, it was on clearance.
this was like 3 months ago i think and the system still blows cold. i didnt put the system under a vacuum or anything, just hooked up the line and pumped the stuff in.
