ok. i was planing on getting some 4.10 gears for my 93lx. i've heard that i will need a chip to adjust the shifting points and not bounce of the rev limiter because of the aod tranny. is this true? if it is.. then i might just bite the bullet and swap out trannies..
anyone out there can help?

You don't need a chip, but you do need the speedo gear. AODEs need a chip. Your car will not "overrev". The rev limiter is also set at 6250 and in an auto, it will never get up that high unless you have a manual valvebody. I doubt it would shift close to that even with a shift kit with raised shift points. My shift kit came with special springs for higher shift points but I didn't use them. I think they were about 5500 or so. Mine shifts at around 5000.

where do i get a speedo gear? how do i know whether i have an aode or just a plain aod?

u have an aod 94/95 cars had the aode's

I have 373s and my aode shifts at about 5500 or so when I hammer it

you can get the speedo gear at any Ford dealership.They will ask you what transmission you have and you have an AOD,what gears yo are running,and what tire size you have to get the correct gear for your application.

not to sound stupid or anything but.. what the heck is a speedo gear? i'm getting some 4.10s in 30 mins.. do wanna u install it for me HaulinAssmaro?.. plese [Big Grin] ?
