Im in the middle of building up my 4.6 (stroked to a 5.0). Each rod must have the writing on it face the "front" of the piston - done. Ok, but now what about the way that you put the rod/piston setup in the block? I noticed that there were two different types of chamfers on where the rod connects to the crank shaft indicating that one side should be against the crank shaft and the other side should be against the other rod sharing that part of the crank shaft. The stock rods have a chamfer on both sides as well, except the chamfers are identicle on a stock rod - They are the same size as the smaller chamfer on my new rods. The difference with my new rods is that I have that small stock-like chamfer but also a much bigger one. Do the big chamfers go against the crank? Do the small chamfers go agains the crank with the large ones against the oposite rod? Maybe neither of those.. maybe the large chamfers all face forward?! Does anyone know?

This could also mean though, that not all pistons/rods would be facing the same direction in the engine (unless all the same type of chamfers are facing in the same direction). Some would need to be facing opposite direction of others. Hope this makes sense. Perhaps its ment to go like that?

I'm trying to build this today so anyones help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Place I got the kit from is closed today [Frown] I only have weekends to work on this, so the difference between finding out today or tomorrow is a weeks worth of time. [Frown]

in my 302 if I installed the rods backwards, it became an interference fit when I rotated the assembly... anyways there should be some kind of an indication which way is towards the 'front' of the block, hope you get it right [Razz]

well, on every piston i've seen there has always been a arrow, little dot, notch or something like that on one side of the piston, this indicates "TOWARDS FRONT" install the pistons with all the arrows/dots/notches pointing towards the front of the MOTOR.
