I made sure that I used coolant in the overflow bottle.I have even resorted to putting a jumper wire between the two male electrodes and the light still stays on.

the switch may be bad...
I'll look for my schematic to try and give you a few things to look for

I know, I know, it's probably the first thing you did, but have you dissconnected the battery cable ?

do you mean like disconnect it for a few minutes and then see if is still on? No I did not but I'm gonna do it now. Worth a shot.

Yeah, it works with several "idiot" lights. For some reason the battery needs to be dissconnected to reset the computer.

Well mines been coming on lately when I'm low on coolant, but I have no overflow bottle? But I haven't checked to see where the sensor wire is at yet.

disconnecting the battery erases the codes that the computer stores up.
If you keep getting the low coolant light pull the codes it will tell you what sensor is acting up.

It's off now.

The low coolant switch in the bottle is just a float switch, I think it's a little sliding magnet inside the bottle on a float, and when it gets low it closes the contacts in the switch.
When you jumped the leads, you closed the circuit and that would keep the light on.
If it's off now, the contacts might have jarred loose and open again, or the float might have gotten stuck...
