This is for my foxbody. The sticker on the housing says to bleed per manufacture's instructions. If I do,what are the manufacturer's instructions? [patriot]

I don't think you will have any problems. Toss it in and have someone fire the car and go lock to lock with the steering wheel while you fill as needed until full.

BTW, pre 95 Stangs use Type F auto trans fluid in the power steering...96+ use DexIII auto trans fluid for the power steering...

You know, I had my system completely drained, and had to have someone sitting there ready to fill it as soon as I fired it up, it sucked the resivior dry.

Just make sure that you have a buddy there to refill it while you pour more in otherwise it makes a horrible noise [Frown]

Some people will even jack the front end off the ground so when you are going lock to lock to get out the air and the pump isn't totally full yet there isn't a lot of pressure on the pump to turn the tires on the ground. Makes it much easier on the pump when the tires are in the air.

Though if you only replaced the pump and the rest of the system had fluid in it you are probably ok to just fill the pump and turn it lock to lock on the ground
