In the drive thru at BK here in Vacaville, looked at my temp, shwoop, temp on rise, then my windsheild started to fog up. parked the car at BK popped hood. Only place i could see coolant was around the coolant cap area. Couldnt see any coolant leaking anywhere!!! Squeezed both upper/lower hoses, both hard as a rock!

Could my thermastat be sticking, going bad? [Confused]

Windshield huh, I wonder if mr heater core sprung a leak

Thought of that too, but wouldnt i smell coolant in the car? I dont smell any coolant in the car. Before i popped the hood there was water/coolant on the bumper, by the lil horsey.

Whats the coolant level like now? Only thing near that area is the overflow bottle and radiator. If you can find access to a cooling system pressure checker that will point it out right away.

Well the car is still hot/warm so its reading a good reading, but it lost a substantial amount. What will the pressure checker point out?

if i remember right u can borrow one of those pressure testers at autozone, its free [Big Grin]

just need an air compressor

if u get the test and u dont have a compressor im sure i could hook it up real quick this weekend at my house in green valley [patriot]

It basically compresses your cooling system with air to normal operating pressures (15-16psi)It has a gauge on it to show if the system is holding pressure or not. Usually when a system is fully pressurized you can stand there and watch where theres a leak because coolant will be squirting out. Did you happen to just add water to your over flow tank?

[Confused] every pressure checker I've used compresses the system with a hand pump. Maybe there's other style's out there. Stant makes a good one

i even let the car cool for about 10minutes then started back up, couldnt see any coolant leaking/squirting anywhere! drove home no more leaking or steaming???

isnt the black plastic coolant container part of the radiator on the 98's, where the coolant cap is?
