a 94 isn't obdII - it is still eec4, the test connector is under the hood

i checked out an obd-2 scan tool from pep boys and the connector fits to an outlit that is on the driverside right behind the radio. why does my car have this connector if it's not obd-2 and where can I find the connector under the hood.
also do you know what this connector would be used for. Thanks a million.

94's have their connector under the hood...I don't know what you're plugging into...

OBDII is for '96 and later model years. You have an EEC-IV,(OBD-I) as mentioned, and the test port is under the hood.
*some* 95.5 model year cars are OBD-II

94 Mustangs used obdII only for the 3.8 cars, but the conector is used for both the 3.8 and 5.0 - Your connector has no use, that's just the way Ford decided to build it. Here's a pic of where your connector is.

it just means that ford just made 1 big ass harness that was common for all stangs, ie. coupes/verts, base models, gt's cobras, there are some minor differences, but the differences are mainly in what connectors have sensors and which ones dont.
For instance, if you dont have the mach 460, you can easily install it by getting the amps and deck and hooking it up.

i repeated the procedure on my 94 t-bird and it read the codes no problem. but when i try on my cobra it isn't working. i don't get anything.
so frustrated where should i go from here

You connected both connections right (both the 6 pin and the 1 pin)? Are you trying the antilock test connector? Also, some cheap testers require you to turn the key on first, then power up the tester and check for codes. If you are using the right connector, and the tester is working correctly, make sure that you have power (12v) to the big connector on the pink/light green wire, and a ground on the gray/red wire.
Is your check engine light on? What type of problem are you trying to chase down?

yes I followed the correct procedure as you said i will check the readings on the wire you said.
and no it is not the abs test it is clearly marked on the case cover on the pas. side
I am trying to hunt down a problem, my car will start fine drive perfect then a sudden loss in all power the car will idle a little rough and then even if you hit WOT the rpm's will not raise at all. If you turn the car off and try to start it, it won't start, but after a couple trys while hitting the gas a lot it will start up then just run fine till it happens again.
when it initally happened I thought it was my msd box going out so i disconnected the msd and returned it to stock this did not help the problem so I plugged it back in because I can here it ticking.
thanks for all your help. ohh and by the way my next question was going to be what sound the volts readings be in the wires for testing.
thank
kevin

ok i tested the wires and i do not have 12v on the pink/ green wire. what does this mean. i tested this with the key on engine off. does this mean that my edu is not being powered by 12v?
thanks

i tested my 94 t-bird and it also didn't have 12 to the pink/green wire. could you have meants the blue and orange wire. On both cars they had 12 volts. also the grey and red wire had .03 volts on it.
thanks

ok well i found the problem i took the car to a shop and the snapon scan tool pulled some codes. fixed the coolant temp sender and that cleared all but the 511 ecm rom failure. as i understand that is my chip so i think i am going to replace it.
