Sounds kinda normal. I've got 157,xxx miles on my 89 lx and burn about half a quart every 2,000 miles.

I have a 1990 GT Mustang, I use Castrol GTX High Millage 10-w40...you can feel the horse power the oil gives you when you running the car....Walmart has a variaty of engine oils at less then half the price you buy it at other stores.

well if you have no leaks but every so offten the level goes down that is a good indication you have burned oil. Blue smoke out the tail pipes is a good indication you are burning to much oil...all cars burn oil.

I seriously doubt anyone will feel a hp gain or loss with the oil they use. Personally I like Castrol...I've used it in every car I've owned. I used the gtx high mileage too...some say me using 20-50 is to thick of a weight but seems to work for me. 121,000 miles is pretty good for your car...maybe 10-40 or higher would be good. I'm not really an oil expert just my opinion from what I've heard and experianced. Depending on what you have done to your car mod wise might influance the weight you want to use. I'd suggest asking Black94 5.0 what he thinks.

That's hilarious, yesterday on HP TV they switched all the drivetrain oil in an SS to Royal Purple and gained 10rwhp, the show lost all credibility in my mind.

20w50 is what I would recommend...5.0's have great oil pumps and have no problem shifting 20w50 around...
As far as adding horse power, well that's easy...It all depends on what sludge you had before...
What about that ProLong commercial when they poor rocks and dirt into the valve spring of a 350?.....

I've actually found Sears to have the lowest price on oil compared to Auto Zone, Kragen, Wal-Mart, Target, Pep Boys, etc...

I used royal purple 10w-30 on my 4.6, and the car feels good, i haved used mobil one, castrol and some others, but so far royal purple feels the best especially after racing, so i'm happy with royal purple.

I just put in castrol GTX high mileage 10w40 along with some lucas oil stabilizer. dunno if it actually makes the car faster tho.
one question, is ~20lbs oil pressure @ a stop a bad thing? my uncle said anything under 40lbs isn't lubricating anything.

I have had at least 20 at idle for the last 30k miles and she is still running.

yeah, it runs fine, so i dunno what he's talking about. maybe he meant while driving it has to be over 40, which mine does. he says his stays around 50-60, but of course his car has like 40k on it ('90 GT) compared to my 130

20 at idle is a little low, but its surprising the abuse a bottom end can hold

What about this new grade 0w-20 what motor is this good for (Mobil 1 Synthetic 0w-30 ?????)

I buy the cheapest oil. Chevron oil 10w40. As long as it's SAE-SJ approved it's all good.
