Looking to put a new top on my 89 GT. (Bought it from seller who was tired of fixing top every time someone tried to steal it.) I was hoping it would be an easy do it yourself job. I'm only mildly retarded and able to follow simple directions easily enough. Also, anyone buy weatherstiping lately ? If so, from who?

okay??? so what is your question about tops??, its easier said then done, i;m telling you that right now, just take it to a shop , if you need recommendations, we can give you a few

If I were you I would take it to a shop because if you mess up you mess up and you will probably need a new top. Not to mention you will probably not get it to fit exactly right if you do it yourself, then it will just fuck up later and you will need another top.

The 300 or so bucks is better spent on somebody putting it in professionally, plus you will have a warranty if it does happen to get fucked up

Thanks for the advice, I've done some reading and yes, I would have screwed it up. Go ahead with your suggestions. I'll go anywhere in the greater Bay Area, as long as it's done right.

I know purplenotch's shop is right next to south city upholstery in San Bruno, so u could try them< i've heard only good things, but my personal preference for price and quality is val's auto in the city. call both, see which one can hook you up with a better price, they both do good work though, they did my top, pads, curtain, everything, for $500. good luck

Thanks, I call both. $500.00 is better than I was expecting.
