My co-worker has a '03 Cobra with bolt-ons and has a slight upper-end ticking sound in the rearmost cylinders in the rear-driver side during idle. I believe he has a Magnaflow Cat-back, Bassani X and JBA shorties. We have properly tightened the exhaust gaskets to the correct torque order + specs.
He has taken the car to the dealer and looking at the work order they just checked the oil-pressure (17 & 30 p.s.i) which is ridiculous. It sounds like it's coming from the valvetrain.
The SVT tech was on a tight schedule and probably did more tech troubleshooting but we have yet to get a call back from him.
I only know have knowledge about Fox bodies, nothing modular. Any common problems/recalls with the '03 Cobras? Particularly valvetrain ticking noises?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seen at least 3 '03's with this problem. Take it to ford for warranty

Yes, it seems to be quite common. Looks like repeat trips back to the all-knowledgeable SVT tech that is the busiest man in Norcal.

Hey Josh
chek out this site...
www.svtperformance.com
search under TICK or TSB and you should find all sorts of good reading. There is a TSB for the "TICK". Luckily I dont have it (knock on wood), 1st gen of the car was notorious for it.

From some searching the main probs w/ early production 03's were the TICK, VIBRATION, and a slight PULL in the steering.

Have them look at TSB # 03-11-4 for the noise. It applies to engines built before 11/1/02 for a valve guide noise from the left cylinder head.

It's definitely top-end related. Thanks for the info I'm gonna look into that.
