The 94+ Mustangs did not use a fusible link between the alternator and the fuse box in the engine bay, did they? I have one in mine, but I think it's from when I had the fox harness in my '95 and I never needed to take it out. Now, however, I want to upgrade the alternator wire from 8ga to 4ga to help charge my battery in the trunk. Just wanna make sure I don't need it before I yank it.

Yes they did, mine had it, and when I hid all the wiring and made a new alt cable I used the same gauge link from napa auto parts. Worked fine.

What's it's purpose? Just to keep the alt from frying itself? Everything in the engine bay is on a fuse from the fusebox. Also, did the V6 alternators need one? Because that is the alternator I am using (130amp).

I think so the Alt, won't blow the fuse, makes sense.

The V-6 stuff, no idea man.
