Bill at Apex was selling those Rapter shift lights for a while...I've never actually seen one so I can't comment...

I've used Auto Meter Pro shift lights and loved them...It does suck having to mess with the rpm pills though....Auto Meter sell them with LED's now too...

Check out the Stewart Warner Ultra Shift Light. It's a digital tachometer inside a shift light. All solid state...no pills or moving parts like switches or dials, just two buttons that allow you to program the shift point in 10 rpm increments. It also has a high rpm memory function, and adjustable LED brightness.

It's no replacement for a big monster tach as far as being able to see the needle move and "anticipating" the shift, but that's what I use the shift light for...just set it a little lower to accomodate your reaction delay. Plus, I now know my stock tach is reading 500 rpm at my shift point, so I can still use the stock tach to "anticipate" the shift. The tach feature is really only good for 1)seeing how far off your factory tach is, 2)seeing your rpm when not racing, i.e., when you have time to "read" the numbers, and 3)recalling the high rpm memory. The accuracy, however, is fantastic. You'd have a hard time breaking down 10 rpm increments on an analog tach.

SW also makes a similar tach/shiftlight in a gauge style. I wanted one to mount to my pillar pod, but my local dealer didn't have them in stock yet...too new or something, so I settled for the "tube" model.

Oops, I meant to say my stock tach reads 500 rpm LOW at my shift point.
